Three Inspections Required
Unlike
the DEP, the WCSC requires three inspections for
on-lot sewage septic system installations. These
inspections are as follows:

Start
of Construction Inspection

Approval
to Cover Inspection
-
Final
Inspection
Details
for each of the three inspections are provided below.
1.
Start of Construction Inspection
This
inspection is required before you start construction
on the new installation.
Pre-Inspection
Requirements:
-
System
should be laid out to be chisel plowed.
-
Area to
be chisel plowed in presence of the SEO or
already done.
-
Sand
should be on its way or stockpiled.
Inspection
- SEO will:
-
Verify
the proper location of the system.
-
Answer
any construction questions.
-
Check
dimensions and chisel plow results.
-
Verify
sand certification.
2.
Approval to Cover Inspection
Once the
on-lot sewage septic system has been installed, a
second inspection is required before the system is
covered.
Inspection
- SEO will check system functions:
-
sand
slope
-
depth of
sand
-
depth of
aggregate
-
check
clean outs
-
check
aggregate cover material
-
check
quick disconnect and watertight connections
-
check
proper levels for floats
-
check
tanks, pipes & distribution holes
-
SYSTEM
MUST RUN PROPERLY
-
check
flows, floats and alarm
3.
Final Inspection
After the
system has been covered, a third and final
inspection takes place.
Inspection
- SEO will:

check
berm slopes and size
-
check
berm cover (mulch, seed & straw, or sod)
-
check
pipes in house
-
check
wiring (isolated circuit)
-
check
alarm response
