Description
When on-lot sewage septic systems malfunction, sewage can be
discharged or can seep to the surface where it is harmful to
humans, wildlife and downstream water sources.
Two
Reporting Scenarios
There
are two scenarios in which malfunctions are reported to the WCSC:
-
The
first scenario is when a property owner realizes there is
a malfunction and voluntarily reports it to the WCSC
office.
-
The
second scenario is when an inspection is requested by a
council member (Municipality), and the Sewage Enforcement
Officer (SEO) determines that there is a problem
that needs to be fixed.
After
a Malfunction is Reported
Both scenarios above require the property owner to apply
for a Repair Permit.
However, the timetable of the second scenario is more limited
and more likely subject to a citation by the SEO if the
problem is not dealt with satisfactorily.
