helping a property owner and Sewage Enforcement Officer (SEO)
test a site, be sure to remember and keep to the following six
points. . .
Before You Start - Do's and Don'ts

Do
not arrange to do pit probes without first
calling PA One Call hotline.

Do
call the PA One Call hotline (at 1-800-242-1776) and
waiting the three required working days. This
is the law. (Click here
to go to the PA One Call website and learn about the
PA One Call law or enter a clearance request through
the web.)

Do
not start the pit probe without the Sewage
Enforcement Officer (SEO) present.
While
You're Working
with the SEO
-
The SEO,
along with the property owner, will select an area
approximately 50 ft by 100 ft.

The SEO
will have you dig the pit probes and will make the
required evaluation and record it.

The SEO
will indicate when he is through with the probe, and
you can then cover it.
