Subdivision Instructions

 
STEP INSTRUCTION DESCRIPTION RESPONSIBILITY
1.

For each subdivision, a separate application needs to be made.  The following items are required for each subdivision at the time of application:

  1. Copy of existing property deed.

  2. Directions to and map of property if available.

  3. Property Tax ID Number.

  4. Driver's License Photo ID of applicant.

  5. Application fee (see the Fee Schedule for your specific fee)

  6. If you are not the property owner, we need a written and signed note from the property owner giving you permission to do a PERC test on their property.

Bring the above items to the Washington County Sewage Council (WCSC) office and make application.

3. A Sewage Enforcement Officer (SEO) will be assigned to your application. WCSC
4. You then make an appointment with the SEO to do the pit probe portion of the testing and arrange to have a backhoe with operator of your choice and cost. Property Owner
5. With the SEO and backhoe operator, perform the pit probe test.  

If you pass the pit probe phase of the testing, the SEO will show you where and how to prepare the six (6) small perc holes, and you arrange for the SEO's return to do the percolation test phase.

6. When the test passes, you will be issued a "site suitable" letter along with copies of the test results.  You will also be given directions to obtain a "system design".

(Note: You will also be instructed on the appropriate procedure if you require a planning module because of a subdividing situation.)

7. Develop system design or planning module and submit your design (or planning module) to the SEO or WCSC office. Property Owner / Contractor of your choice
8. After submission, the SEO will review the design and either approve or deny the permit application. WCSC/SEO
9. If the application is approved, you will be notified and a copy of the permit can be picked up at the WCSC office. WCSC
10. If the application is denied, you will will be notified along with the reason for denial.

(Note: If your application is denied, you may qualify to have a portion of your application fee refunded.)
